We're situated in Berrigan Road, Devonport, Tasmania. We are
behind Home Hill, the family residence of Enid and Joseph Lyons (Prime
Minister of Australia 1932-1937). We overlook the city and Bass
Strait.
We were built in 1970. We have an administration block, single
unit
classrooms with shared wet areas, library, music room and multipurpose
hall. The grounds include extensive grass areas, oval, netball / basketball courts
and two designated play areas using Playsafe equipment. Seven
shade shelters also provide additional teaching and learning spaces.
The parent car park has the capacity to accommodate 55 vehicles.
We have thirty two staff, eighteen teachers and
fourteen support staff including a guidance officer and social
worker. All are professional, experienced, skilled and committed.
We
currently have an enrolment of 251 students, Kindergarten to Grade
6. Our children are from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds and
generally are friendly, courteous and eager to learn. They wear our
uniform with pride and enthusiastically participate in all aspects of
school life.
We have positive parent involvement and support. Like the staff, our
parents want the children to be safe, happy, challenged and successful.
Also located within our grounds, is
a privately run child care centre available to care for children from
6.30am. until 6pm., Monday to Friday. They are open 52 weeks of
the year and close only for gazetted public holidays. The centre
is licensed by the Department of Education to provide care for up to 50
children aged between birth and 7 years. |
